TAKWIMU

The Takwimu Young African Statisticians Programme was established in 2021 to address the challenges faced by the African Statistical System (ASS) and to empower a new generation of skilled young African statisticians (YAS).

The program aims to contribute to the continent's development agenda in general and to the transformation and modernization of official statistics in particular, by advocating for YAS full involvement in statistical affairs, facilitating the development of their research and innovation skills via the use of new technologies and data sources, providing opportunities for young professionals to participate in national and regional data and statistical forums and workshops, and also by facilitating mentorship.

Provide Opportunities

Provide opportunities for young professionals to participate in national and regional data and statistical forums.

Networking

Establish young statistician associations in African countries and support their proper functioning.

Mentorship

Facilitate mentorship by engaging with experienced statisticians.

Governance

Govern the programme through an executive committee composed of young professionals from various countries across the continent, reporting to the Bureau of the Commission.
